I can relate to what you wrote about identity in motherhood. I was the room mother, the cub scout leader, the choir mom, the band mom, the orchestra mom, the carpool mom for the other moms who were at work. Those days I mostly lived in the car. LOL. I was always taking some child to some place: school, work, marching band practice, private music lessons, and of course church activities. I was needed and I was available and I have no regrets about not being there for my kids. When they all left home, that was an identity adjustment. I volunteered in the community, joined DAR, and taught pre school and music and art at the Montessori school. Now it is aging that is the newest adjustment. Reid got handicap license plates for the Tesla so he doesn't have to walk so far when we go places.
Loved reading about summer and all the feels of living abroad. Let the soul work celebrations begin!
Looking forward to your short stories!❤️
